Description:

The John and Ruth Isaacs Family Scholarship Fund was established by Montgomery County/Parke County educators, John and Ruth Isaacs. Combining their years of teaching, the Isaacs taught school for seventy years. They had a sincere interest in helping children and young people receive a good education. It was their belief that a good education would help them to become good citizens and live happy and productive lives, as well as maintaining high ideals.

The purpose of the Isaacs Scholarship Fund is to award a renewable scholarship to a graduate of a public Montgomery County High School who exhibits scholarly ability and attends an accredited college or university in the State of Indiana.

Criteria:
  • Be a graduate in good standing of a public Montgomery County High School, Montgomery County, Indiana by the end of June of the year in which the application is filed
  • Be a resident of Montgomery County, Indiana and have lived in Montgomery County for at least two years before graduation
  • Be accepted into and attend an accredited public or private college or university in the state of Indiana to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study
  • Must have a grade point average of 3.5 based on a 4.0 scale and be in the upper 1/3 of your graduating class
  • Must have completed a minimum of seven (7) semesters or ten (10) trimesters by the application deadline to be eligible to apply for the Isaacs Scholarship

  • In addition to the standard essay questions, be prepared to write an essay (300 word maximum) addressing the following: "Describe the most important ways that you have changed in the past few years. How do you hope to change or expect to change in the next few years?"
