Description:
Durham Home Inc. was established in 1944 for the purpose of maintaining Durham Home as a residence for independent women. In 1937, Sarah Durham established a trust to provide a comfortable home environment for women. Durham Home Inc. operates as a 501c3 organization and oversees the home located at 215 West Main Street, Crawfordsville. 

The Durham Home Inc. Scholarship Fund was created by the Durham Home Inc. board of directors to honor Shirley O’Neall’s service to the organization for over 50 years. It is their wish to support local women pursuing education to better themselves and their contributions to the community.

Eligibility:
  • Be a resident of Montgomery County, Indiana
  • Must be a female pursuing an education to better herself
  • Character, work ethic, and potential for success in college will be taken into consideration
  • Student must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited two-year or four-year public or private college or university.
    • Applicants do not have to be enrolled on a full-time basis
Requirements:

  • Applicants will be asked to upload a transcript from their most recent educational institution.
  • Be prepared to answer the following essay prompts (300 word maximum) addressing the following: 
    • “Tell us about yourself and why you want to pursue this field of study.”

    • “Expand on your current and previous work experience and community activities or memberships.”

    • “How do you want to contribute to and benefit women in the future?"
