2018 Volunteer of the Year Awards

5.29.18

We recently held our Annual Meeting during which time we present the adult and youth Volunteer of the Year awards. It is always a highlight of our meeting and we are honored to recognize these outstanding individuals for their selfless work in our community.

This year the adult 2018 Volunteer of the Year award went to Roanne Smith for her work at Half Way Home. Roanne is co-founder of the organization along with Sarah Dicks. She is described as dedicated, caring, and hard-working by those who nominated her. Roanne not only helped make the Half Way Home building livable, but also teaches classes, provides transportation, and serves as house monitor. Half Way Home received $1,000 in her honor and her name will be engraved on the VOY plaque in the MCCF office.

Next, the youth 2018 Volunteer of the Year award went to Elizabeth Sweet for her work with the Youth Service Bureau. Elizabeth has volunteered for five years with the YSB, and during that time she has taken on many leadership roles. Elizabeth received a plaque and $1,000 was awarded to the Youth Service Bureau in her honor.
