Women’s Legacy Fund Accepting Grant Proposals

Local non-profits with a mission to support women and/or children are invited to submit grant proposals to The Women’s Legacy Fund of the Montgomery County Community Foundation. The Women’s Legacy Fund is accepting grants now through Friday, March 9th.

The Women’s Legacy Fund comprises women who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of women and girls in Montgomery County. To accomplish this goal, each member of the fund makes a donation to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, pooling these gifts to increase the impact of their efforts. One third of each gift goes into an endowed fund that will forever benefit girls and women in Montgomery County. The other two-thirds are committed to a grant pool, allowing the women (fund members) to make an annual grant to one or more organizations in Montgomery County that benefits women and girls. Eligible organizations must have a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status. Over the last nine years the Women’s Legacy Fund has made more than 20 grants to Montgomery County organizations that have ranged from $500 to $7,950.

Interested non-profit organizations may submit a grant application for a project that will serve women and children in Montgomery County. The grant application and instructions can be found on our website on the Apply for a Grant page. If there are questions about the application procedure, please e-mail Cheryl Keim at cheryl@mccf-in.org. It is anticipated that organizations receiving a grant will use it in the one-year period from June 2018 to May 2019.

The grant application form with required appendices should be completed online by 5p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018. The organizations selected as finalists will need to be prepared to make an in-person presentation to the Women’s Legacy Fund full membership at 6:30pm, April 30, at the Montgomery County Community Foundation.

Awards will be made by the end of May and recipient organizations should be prepared to implement the proposal soon after the award is made. Grant recipients will be expected to provide a program update on December 4, 2018, at the Women’s Legacy Fund annual meeting. A final narrative, including a financial report, must be submitted by May 30, 2019.
