Grant Gives Boost to Darlington Forever

9.13.12

MCCF Board Member, Tom Mellish, directed his $1,000 Board Community Engagement Grant to Darlington Forever, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to community improvement. Tom, who is the principal at Sugar Creek Elementary, sees daily the pride residents of Darlington and the surrounding area have in their community.

Tom presented his Board grant at Darlington's annual Fish Fry & Festival, which also served as a platform for announcing a major fund raising campaign to make improvements to the Darlington Community Center, formerly the Darlington Armory. Their first goal is to replace all 70 windows in the massive structure! The building itself is well built of solid concrete, but it needs some updates and improvements to make it more functional and efficient. A Pass Through Fund for the Darlington Community Center has been established at MCCF for donations given to this effort. Checks can be made payable to MCCF with Darlington Community Center noted on the memo line.
