CHS Athenian Scholarship

Requirements: Crawfordsville High School graduate, public college or university, financial need
Description:

The CHS Athenian Scholarship Fund was established by a Crawfordsville High School alumnus to recognize the importance his high school played in his life. The CHS Athenian Scholarship is awarded to graduates of Crawfordsville High School who will be attending a two-year or four-year public college or university. Preference will be given to the student pursuing a degree in the technical or trade area of study. Nontraditional students under the age of 21 may apply for the scholarship but must have been a graduate of Crawfordsville High School. Selection is also based on financial need. The CHS Athenian Scholarship is renewable.

Criteria:
  • Be a graduate in good standing from Crawfordville High School by the end of June of the year in which the application is filed
  • Must have completed a minimum of seven (7) semesters of high school by the application deadline to be eligible to apply
  • Must have a minimum high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must not be older than 21 when applying for the scholarship for the first time
  • Be a resident of Montgomery County, Indiana and have lived in Montgomery County, Indiana for the previous {3) three years.
  • Be accepted into and attend an accredited two-year or four-year public college or university in the state of Indiana or an accredited Indiana technical or trade school such as Vincennes University or Ivy Tech Community College
  • 21st Century Scholar award winners are NOT eligible for this scholarship
  • Demonstrates academic preparation and potential for success in post-high school education
  • Financial need will be considered a primary criteria
Renewal:

This scholarship is renewable for two or four years as long as the recipient maintains a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Requirements:
  • Complete the online MCCF Standard Scholarship application. Check here for updated scholarship application due date and information.
  • In addition to the standard essay questions, be prepared to answer the following essay questions (300 word maximum each):  "How have you prepared yourself for a successful post-high school education?" and "What do you want to do with the education you are going to pursue?"
