2015 Annual Meeting

5.29.15

We had a lot to be thankful for at our 2015 Annual Meeting, as the Montgomery County Community Foundation celebrated a record-breaking year! In 2014, the foundation granted over $1.238 million, funded over 40 nonprofits in Montgomery County, and awarded 225 scholarships totaling over $380,000. The Lilly Endowment GIFT VI matching gift challenge was a huge success- in a five-month period, over $1.1 million was raised with the $500,000 Lilly match. In addition, 27 new funds were established and we had 973 donors- the most in the foundation's 24 year history! All of these milestones speak volumes about our community and the incredible generosity that fills it.

Dan Keller, of the New Market Volunteer Fire Department, spoke about the new fire station being built with the help of an MCCF grant that was awarded in 2014. His presentation included pictures of the existing fire station, the new fire station, and the many services the department provides. Dan spoke about how grateful the department was to receive their grant from MCCF, and how much it will impact the future of New Market.

Larry Paarlberg from the Lew Wallace Study and Museum spoke about the ongoing renovations at the Lew Wallace. The most recent project, funded in part by an MCCF grant, is the recovery and restoration of original artwork in the study. Larry provided multiple pictures of the amazing restorations taking place. Larry also spoke about the creation of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum Fund, and how the study had benefited immensely from the Lilly GIFT VI Match.
