Celebrating Community Foundation Week!

11.13.14

We recently sponsored our third essay contest on philanthropy in honor of Community Foundation Week, November 12-18, and National Philanthropy Day on November 15th. We are proud to celebrate with community foundations all across the country about the vital role we have in our community!

Celebrating the idea that everyone can be a philanthropist and all contributions are worthy, we invited 8th grade students from all three schools to write about who they would choose as their "philanthropy idol" and why. An outside judge looked at the submitted essays and chose an overall top winner and two runner-ups.

We are so pleased to announce that Southmont's Allison Dittmer wrote the winning essay! She chose the Youth Service Bureau as the recipient of clientuploads/Wyatt for web.jpgher $100 MCCF grant and Karen Branch, Director, was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the agency. Our second place winner was Wyatt Eldridge from Northridge and he chose the Red Cross as the recipient of his $50 MCCF grant. Denise Maxwell, Red Cross Director, was happy to accept the award. Third place was Crawfordsville's Lexie Hunziker who chose Pam's Promise as her $50 MCCF grant recipient; Cheryl Farr was glad to accept the award on behalf of the agency. Congratulations to everyone! We appreciate our local teachers who partner with us to make this contest possible and for all the students who participated. We are thankful to live in a community where we are surrounded with "philanthropy idols" who unselfishly give of their time and talents to make this a great place to live and work.
