Grants
Arts & Culture:

Crawfordsville Main Street Program - $48,000. Funding to ensure ongoing growth and fiscal sustainability of Athens of IN Arts Studio and Gallery. (Grant money awarded from the Walter F. Hulet Fund.)

Cultural Foundation (Old Jail Museum) - $9,250.  Funding to develop educational outreach projects.  (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon, William and Amy Roth, and Dr. William and Ms. Nancy Doemel funds.)

Sugar Creek Players - $20,000.  Funding to install sprinkler system in the remainder of the theatre(Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon and First Merchants Charitable Foundation Funds.)


Community Development:

Animal Welfare League - $17,000.  Funding to purchase a pre-owned pickup truck to be used for animal control.  (Grant money from the Walter F. Hulet Fund.)

Darlington Forever, Inc. - $4,000.  Funding to install a basic sound system in the Darlington Community Center. (Grant money from the Damon C. and Bernice Seaman Wray Fund.)

Crawfordsville District Public Library - $20,000.  Funding to be used towards the construction of an outdoor pavilion structure on the west side of the library.  This will be used for outdoor activities with children, book clubs or as a resting place for patrons and staff.  (Grant money from the Community Fund.)


Education:

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $1,588.32.  Funding to purchase two touch screen monitors to assist students with physical limitations who are unable to access a standard keyboard and mouse to be able to access technology with more independence at Hoover School.  (Grant money from the Maude Dockins Trust and Amy C. Robinson Trust funds.)

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $9,544.24.  Funding for improvements to the Sugar Creek Nature Park which includes signage, recycle bins, Weather Bug HD camera and materials for securing tables and bins.  (Grant money from the Dr. Fred and Elizabeth Daugherty Trust Fund.)

Educational Foundation - $20,000. Funding for Montgomery County teacher grants.  The grants are awarded up to $1,000 each for innovative and imaginative projects that go beyond the normal curriculum.  (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon and Samuel L. and Fern Boots Funds.)

Health:

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $8,000.  Funding for school's health and welfare fund which assists students in need with health related concerns.  (Grant money from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)   

AHEAD Coalition. - $5,520.  Funding for an Outreach Coordinator to administer and present the curriculum "Project Towards No Tobacco" to 6th and 7th graders and expand to the elementary schools.  (Grant money from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

South Montgomery Community School Corporation - $8,000. Funding for school's health and welfare fund which assists students in need with health related concerns.  (Grant money from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

Historical:

Lew Wallace Preservation Society - $9,500.  Funding to produce a Historic Structures Report which is considered vital for the preservation of highly significant structures. (Grant money from the Community, James G. and Susan Smith, Michael D. and Sally A. Hinkle, and Carl F. and Margaret Henthorn Funds.)

Montgomery County Historical Society - $34,800.  Funding to paint the exterior of the Lane Place. (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Human Services:

Abilities Services - $13,000.  Funding to purchase a pre-owned minivan to provide transportation for their consumers.  (Grant money from the Walter F. Hulet Fund.)

Family Crisis Shelter - $9,375.  Funding for new flooring in the sleeping areas, play room and living area and for painting the sleeping area and two offices.  (Grant money from the Hubert and Martha Massing Fund.)

FISH - $7,500.  Funding to provide assistance to the needy of Montgomery County.  The types of assistance include rent, utilities, medical, transient room rent, and gas vouchers..  (Grant money from the Max K. Tannenbaum, Walter F. Hulet and Chase Funds.)

HUB Ministries - $14,180.  Funding for provide emergency assistance for residents in need to include gas vouchers, rent assistance, utilities, medical expenses and temporary housing.  (Grant money from the Herman Dicks, A.F. Ramsay Trust and Hubert and Martha Massing Funds.)

Montgomery United Fund For You - $5,498.  Funding to support the 2011 MUFFY campaign through billboards, reusable campaign bags and advertising.  (Grant money from the Community and Beverley J. Turner in memory of John C. White Funds.)

Mountie Mission - $13,000. Funding to replace windows in the recently acquired second floor of their building. (Grant money from the Max F. Tannenbaum Trust Fund.)

Park and Recreation Department - $800.  Funding to provide craft supplies for the senior group. (Grant money from the Florence Schultz Trust Fund.)

Red Cross - $11,276.  Funding for volunteers to work in each of the ten Montgomery County towns to help them prepare for emergency situations. (Grant money from the Hubert and Martha Massing, Max W. Johnson, and Montgomery County Physicians Funds.)

Sunshine Vans - $13,000.  Funding for matching funds for a minivan and completion of a garage to house the vans.  (Grant money from the Faye and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

Trinity Mission of Montgomery County - $2,350.  Funding to purchase 30 mattresses for the residential rehabilitation program and homeless shelter.  (Grant money from the Walter F. Hulet Fund.)

Women's Resource Center - $4,000.  Funding for baby items, pregnancy tests, prenatal vitamins and training for nurse to perform ultrasounds. (Grant money from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

Youth:

Boys and Girls Club - $17,000.  Funding to be used for operational costs of the After School Program. (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon and Director's Funds.)

Park and Recreation Department - $3,200.  Funding to be used for a summer camp for special needs and typically developing children.  "Camp Things with Wings" is an outdoor nature study.  The children spend one overnight at Camp Rotary at the conclusion of the weeklong day camp.  (Grant money from the Libby Whitecotton Fund.)

Youth Camps (Camp Rotary) - $10,000. Funding to be used to add indoor, heated restrooms to the existing shower house allowing for year-round use.  (Grant money from the Massing, Tannenbaum, Detchon, Community, Daugherty and Harmon Funds.)

Youth Service Bureau - $11,740. Funding to be used to help support the JUMP and CASA programs through volunteer recruitment, retention and staffing.  (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon Fund.)

2011 Grant Awards

Montgomery County Community Foundation is pleased to announce awards for the 2011 Grant Cycle.  It is always a wonderful time of year when donor's dreams come to fruition!

All were deeply appreciative of the grants awarded to their particular agency and/or organization and expressed how this money will help sustain vital services or make necessary repairs and renovations.

The Foundation manages over one-hundred endowed funds, each established by donors with great visions of making our community a better place to live.  It was a joy to present these grants and a great example of our mission statement as we are the bridge connecting our donors who, through their gifts, support the future of Montgomery County.
