Grants

Abilities Services - $28,590.  Funding to update and furnish kitchen classroom, educational programs. (Grant money awarded from the Maude Dockins and Irwin Lee Detchon Funds.)

Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County - $11,845.  Funding to purchase and install a commercial washer and dryer, computer and software.   (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Boys and Girls Club - $20,000.  Funding to sustain the After School Program(Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon Fund.)

Carnegie Museum - $5,240.  Funding for exhibit gallery items.  (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Community Chorus - $2,500.  Funding for the 2010 Christmas Choral Concert. (Grant money from the Max Tannenbaum Fund.)

Crawfordsville Art League - $2,500.  Funding to help with the Annual Art League Fall Downtown Juried Art Exhibit.  (Grant money from the  Walter Hulet, Thomas and Mary Beth Harmon, and Carl and Margaret Henthorn  Funds.)

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $10,110.  Funding to purchase computers for the Even Start Family Literacy program.  (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $10,000.  Funding for the school's health and welfare fund.  (Grant money from the Faye and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

Crawfordsville Main Street Program - $44,000.  Funding for renovation of art gallery/studio space in downtown Crawfordsville.  (Grant money from the Walter Hulet Fund.)

Cultural Foundation (Old Jail Museum) - $32,083.  Funding for renovation of steam plant for community arts and cultural center.  (Grant money from the James and Susan Smith, Florence Schultz, Irwin Lee Detchon, and Damon and Bernice Wray Funds.)   

Darlington Forever, Inc. - $33,350.  Funding to improve acoustics at the Darlington Community  Center.  (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Educational Foundation - $15,000.  Funding for Montgomery County teacher grants.  (Grant money from the Samuel & Fern Boots, Max Tannenbaum, and Beverley Turner Funds.)

General Lew Wallace Study and Museum - $8,900.  Funding for interior painting, software and digitization equipment.  (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon, Chase, Max Johnson, Michael and Sally Hinkle, and Montgomery County Physicians Funds.)

Historic Ladoga - $32,350.  Funding to replace the roof on the Old Normal building.  (Grant money from the Hubert & Martha Massing Fund.)

HUB Ministries - $10,490.  Funding to provide food for the hungry and assist with emergency needs.  (Grant money from the A.F. Ramsey and Walter F. Hulet Funds.)

Leadership Academy - $4,300.  Funding to provide 15 Leadership Academy scholarships.  (Grant money from the Walter Hulet, William and Amy Roth, and Directors Funds.) 

Linden-Madison Township Historical Society - $5,220.  Funding to restore building exterior and inside renovations.  (Grant money from the Hubert and Martha Massing Fund.)

Montgomery United Fund For You - $16,100.  Funding for 2010 MUFFY campaign materials.  (Grant money from the Community Fund.)

Park and Recreation Department - $3,800.  Funding for summer camp for special needs children.  (Grant money from the Libby Whitecotton, Amy Robinson, and Directors Funds.)

Park and Recreation Department - $7,200.  Funding for fence and signage for skate park.  (Grant money from the Community and William and Nancy Doemel Funds.)

Red Cross - $9,982.  Funding to replace two heating and cooling units.  (Grant money from the Fred and Elizabeth Daugherty Fund.)

South Montgomery School Corporation - $8,000.  Funding for the school's health and welfare fund which assists needy students with health issues.  (Grant money from the Faye O. & Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

Sunshine Vans - $8,000.  Funding for matching funds for a wheelchair accessible vehicle.  (Grant money from the Faye and Anna Schenck and Herman Dicks Funds.)

Women's Resource Center - $3,500.  Funding for baby items, pregnancy tests and prenatal vitamins.  (Grant money from the Faye & Anna Winter Schenck and Max Tannenbaum Funds.)

Youth Service Bureau - $12,115.  Funding for operating funds to sustain the Juvenile Mentoring Program (JUMP) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. (Grant money from the Irwin Lee Detchon and First Merchants Funds.)

2010 Grant Awards

Representatives from several local non-profit agencies were thrilled to receive their 2010 grant awards from the Foundation!  Smiling faces were all around as twenty-five grants totaling $345,175 were distributed.

The recipients were very grateful and explained how the grant money would enable them to sustain vital services as well as make necessary repairs and renovations. 

It was a joy to present these grants and a great example of our mission statement as we are the bridge connecting our donors who, through their gifts, support the future of Montgomery County.
