2008 Cycle 2 - Grant Distribution

This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) awarding its first grant.  In 1992, three grants totaling $2,092 were awarded as the first MCCF initiatives in our community.  Since that time, MCCF has awarded over 3,000 grants and scholarships totaling more than $8.3 million.  

Ten grant distributions were made during the first grant cycle of 2008 for a total of $174,513.88.

A.H.E.A.D. Coalition - $9,870.  Funding for social marketing campaign targeting parents to raise awareness of illegal narcotics in the county.  A 12-month billboard campaign is planned. (Grant money awarded from the Dr. Fred and Elizabeth Daugherty Trust Fund.)

Blind Club-Park & Rec - $1,000.  Funding to provide outings and activities (lunches, tours, etc.) for the legally blind.  (Grant money awarded from the Luella Brake Trust Fund.)

Coal Creek Fire Department - $23,470.04.  Funding to remodel commercial building for use as a fire station in Wingate. (Grant money awarded from the Irwin Lee Detchon Fund.)

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $7,500Funding for the school's health and welfare fund which assists needy students with health issues.  (Grant money from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.) 

Crawfordsville Community School Corporation - $19,855.45.  Funding for Phase 1 of Nature Park along Sugar Creek.  This project is a partnership among the Crawfordsville Parks & Rec department, the Mayor's Nature Park Committee, Friends of Sugar Creek, the three school corporations, and Wabash College.  (Grant money awarded from the Community Fund.)

Educational Foundation - $10,000.  Funding for Montgomery County teacher grants.  (Grant money awarded from the Irwin Lee Detchon Fund.)

Friends of Sugar Creek - $4,650.  Funding for the installation of 3 interpretive signs on the Sugar Creek trail to extend its educational outreach. (Grant money awarded from the Directors Fund, the Hubert and Martha Massing Fund, and the William and Amy Roth Fund.)

League of Women Voters. - $5,685.41.  Funding for publication of the Focus on Montgomery County and the 2009-10 Directory of Government Officials for Montgomery County.  (Grant money awarded from the Max K. Tannenbaum Trust Fund.)

Mountie Mission - $7,409.  Funding for replacement of 14 windows and 3 ceiling fans.  Materials for the center including a projector, table tennis, microwave oven and folding chairs. (Grant money awarded from the Irwin Lee Detchon Fund.)

Park and Recreation Department - $600.  Funding to provide craft supplies for the senior group. (Grant money awarded from the Walter Hulet Fund.)

South Montgomery School Corporation - $7,000.  Funding for the school's health and welfare fund which assists needy students with health issues.  (Grant money awarded from the Faye O. and Anna Winter Schenck Fund.)

South Montgomery Youth Football Program - $2,500.  Funding to replace football tackle equipment after five years of use for 150 tackle participants. (Grant money awarded from the Max K. Tannenbaum Trust Fund.)

Trinity Mission of Montgomery County - $29,915.  Funding to replace roof at facility located at 1101 Whitlock Avenue.  This facility treats drug and alcohol addictions. (Grant money awarded from the Community Fund.)

Women's Resource Center - $3,500Funding for client needs - baby items, free pregnancy testing and prenatal vitamins.  (Grant money awarded from the Walter Hulet Fund.)

Youth Service Bureau - $9,548.  Funding to replace furnace and air conditioning systems.  (Grant money awarded from the Walter Hulet Fund.)
