Position: Scholarship and Communications Director
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Overview:

The position is responsible for administration of the scholarship program. This position will also assist the Development Director with a comprehensive communication plan that will support the objectives and mission of the Foundation.

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in communication, journalism or marketing 
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and listening skills for diverse audiences
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Knowledge and working experience with technology as a communications tool especially in the areas of the internet, website development and social media
  • Professional demeanor with a strong commitment to customer service and community involvement
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills/time management skills; able to multi-task
  • Proficient at Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud and proven ability to learn new software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with donors, students and parents while maintaining strict confidentiality

Specific Job Responsibilities

Scholarship:

  • Prepare applications for scholarships and make them accessible on website
  • Oversee all aspects of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program
  • Coordinate the MCCF scholarship selection committee for all other scholarships
  • Oversee award presentations at the area high schools
  • Management of scholarships including, but not limited to, gathering transcripts and acceptance agreements, reports, sending checks, and tracking of scholarships and recipients using the scholarship software
  • Provide personal contact for parents and recipients of the LECS and all other MCCF scholarships to answer questions, provide information or other assistance as needed
  • Provide “front-line” customer service to students and parents, including answering calls and receiving and responding to email messages
  • Manage all student communications regarding scholarship opportunities
  • Conduct research and keep abreast on latest developments in national higher education issues and best practices, and how they impact students and scholarship funds
  • Creates and maintains current and archived files for scholarships
  • Assists CEO with establishment of new scholarship funds
  • Processes and mails scholarship checks

Communications:

  • Provide assistance to the Development Director with communications in the following areas:
  • Social media posts
  • Management of the MCCF and MCECC websites
  • Writing articles for the annual report
  • Weekly e-newsletter posts
  • Assist with special projects and/or events within MCCF

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
